QUESTIONS

To Mr. Hitchens: your book states "Religious faith results in dangerous sexual repression". Is it good that the Bible prohibits humans having sex with animals?

Hitchens:There are certain actions if people do them the society will die out. (Cannibalism, incest). When I was talking about sexual repression, I was not intimating these actions, but things like laws against sex during menstruation.

Craig: I think this illustrates that the Bible does promote moral actions that are protective and not repressive.

Hitchens: I think nature is pretty indifferent in sex. Homosexuality, for example, If that's bad, why does nature (or God) see to it that so many are born homosexual?

  1. it seems to me that Hitchens is assuming an ultra-calvinistic God, but I'm not sure :)

  3. Thereby completely assuming that nature sees to it that people are born as homosexuals, and even if they are, that somehow vindicates their being so..

  4. Calvinists, hyper or not, are not Christians.

  5. Since total depravity is a false teaching. Never confuse total depravity for propensity to sin.

  8. well I find that it is easier to let God judge who is Christian or not when it comes to semantic theology like Calvinism than Arminianism. I personally am somewhere in the middle heheh :)

  9. Your belief about the relationship between free will and God's sovereignty is not what makes you a christian.

  11. Troy,
Seriously, man. You should stop posting. You're using Hitchens-like logic.

  12. John Calvin was not a Christian? What about Spurgeon--'the Prince of preachers'...or about 50-100 million others around the globe...

  13. He's secretly "Troy Hitchens"... the illegitimate son.

  15. Troy, seriously...First off, personally speaking, I find myself upholding BOTH the Sovereignty of God in His creation and in our salvation AND AT THE SAME TIME seeing our responsibility to repent and believe as the Holy Spirit woos us to the Father.

Secondly, you have no objective means to show that a Calvinist's original conversion is mute...

  16. I'm pretty sure salvation is not awarded based on passing a pop quiz on theology

  17. troy... please don't spout in here... if you want to debate theology I'm sure you can find some very able Calvinists to defend total depravity... But if you want to talk about total depravity it would be really appreciated for all us non-Christian Calvinists out there if you could explain Romans 1-3, Jer. 13:23, and Eph. 2:1. If you could do a half decent job of that I'd be surprised.

  22. Troy,
This isn't the place to debate Calvinism. However, name the forum or blog and I'll take you up on a debate regarding Calvinism.

  24. Troy,
Sounds good. Are you going to start a new thread at that site? We'll probably have to start tomorrow though. I'm going to bed soon!

  26. Be warned, Troy Brooks has some very peculiar views. He's trying to get 12 "apostles" together, him being one of them of course, in order to bring the Lord back. He has publically slandered my name on his website and also had one of my friends fired from his workplace. Please be careful.
